This year, in 1307,

Edward I died

 and Edward II became King of England. 

According to legend, 

William Tell shot an apple off his son’s head in Switzerland.

 On Friday, the 13th of October, 

Philip IV had all of the Knights Templar in France rounded up and forced them to confess to heresy. 

This is one supposed origin of the Friday the 13th superstition.
